A freelance reporter covering science, the environment, health, and consumer issues, Jen Uscher has written for Consumer Reports Shop Smart, Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart Living, AARP The Magazine, Popular Science, Nature Conservancy, and many other publications. She has also produced web content for the PBS science series NOVA, A&E Television Networks, and The History Channel, served as a researcher for programs broadcast on PBS and The Discovery Science Channel, and written exhibit text for the Connecticut Science Center. In addition, Jen provides copywriting and editing services for nonprofit organizations. In 2003 she received an MFA in non-fiction writing from Columbia University, where she was awarded a Hertog Fellowship. She is a member of the National Association of Science Writers and the Society of Environmental Journalists. Jen appeared on the PBS series Wild TV (and was featured in an article in The New Yorker) discussing one of her favorite topics: the wild monk parakeets of Brooklyn, New York.
